Mayor Allen presented a certificate of recognition to local athlete Molly Mathias for winning powerlifting medals at the 2026 Special Olympics U.S. Games in Minnesota.
"This certificate of recognition presented to Molly Mathias while representing Bethel Park, winning in powerlifting medals at the 2026 Special Olympics US Games in Minnesota, awarded this August 2026," Mayor Allen said as he presented the award. Molly described her results: "I had a great time at the USA games. This summer, I won four medals, 1 silver for bench press, bronze medals for the whip and squat." A meeting presenter added that Molly deadlifted 208 pounds, bench-pressed 106 pounds and achieved a combined total of 438 pounds that earned her bronze in the combined category.
Councilmembers and staff thanked Molly and highlighted local support from John and Heather Dennis of Teleo Performance Gym, who coached and housed athletes during the event. The mayor encouraged residents to attend upcoming community events announced earlier in his report, including Millennium Park activities in August and Community Day in September.
