Council hears Metra update and welcomes Taiwan Global Pathfinders internship
Summary

The mayor reported follow-up from residents concerned about Metra's Southwest Service and said Metra "will increase service on the Southwest Line" while noting that new trains cannot be added immediately because of infrastructure and funding constraints; Metra invited Hillsborough and neighboring communities to coordinate advocacy for additional weekday and weekend trains. The mayor said the village has reached out to other Southwest Line communities and will send letters in support of expanded service.
Separately, the council agreed to host an emerging leader from Taiwan for a four-week internship in October through the American Council of Young Political Leaders' Taiwan Global Pathfinders Internship Program, which places early-career professionals in Chicago-area organizations. The mayor called the opportunity "very exciting" and said the village and staff would both learn from the exchange.
