"I would like to make a motion and a recommendation for staff to reach out to the mayor and director of the EDCs in Smithfield and Elgin, conversate about what's moving forward," the member said.
Staff confirmed they will work to coordinate calendars and help schedule introductory meetings with neighboring city leaders and EDC chairs. Several board members voiced support for opening the dialogue and said they wanted clear communication to the public that Bastrop's current EDC work remains the board's focus while regional ideas are explored.
