Public health official tells Bastrop council collaborative working on housing recommendations; report due in 60–90 days

Amy Mills, who identified herself as a Bastrop County Public Health Department employee representing the Bastrop County Collaborative for Housing and Health, used her citizen comment time to alert the council to an upcoming recommendations report. The collaborative includes 13 nonprofit organizations and staff from the cities of Bastrop, Elgin and Smithville and is supported by a St. David's Foundation grant.
"We're about 60, 75, maybe 90 days away from finalizing a policy recommendations report," Mills said. She asked the council for an opportunity to share the collaborative’s findings when the report is complete and to have a seat at future housing discussions. Mills described the collaborative's work as compiling research on policies that encourage attainable and affordable housing as well as policies that may hinder development.
Council thanked Mills and noted staff will accept the collaborative's input when it is ready to be presented to the council.
