Hancock County commissioners approve minutes, payroll and routine transfers

The Hancock County Board of Commissioners opened its March 19 meeting at 9:30 a.m. and approved routine business, including minutes from March 17, 2026. William Bateson moved to approve the minutes and the motion was seconded by Timothy Bechtol; the board passed the motion 3-0.
The commissioners also approved payroll for county and Job & Family Services employees, two warrant journals and multiple travel requests (Landfill, Engineer and three for JFS). The board approved several internal fund transfers and additional appropriations: Resolution #178-26 transferred $1,893.34 from the Indigent Defense Fund (#8180) to the General Fund (#1001) for February 2026; Resolutions #179-26 and #181-26 authorized transfers within the General Fund for Sheriff and Veterans accounts; and Resolutions #180-26 and #182-26 provided additional appropriations including to a Veterans Service Trust Fund (#2152) and HUD Fund (#2062). Each motion was moved by William Bateson and seconded by Timothy Bechtol and passed unanimously, recorded as 3-0.
The meeting minutes show these approvals were procedural and required no extended discussion. The board adjourned regular agenda items after completing these routine actions and moved on to staff presentations and resolutions.
