Council pushes outreach on emergency preparedness; staff offers county briefing

Councilors discussed wildfire risk, multi-hazard mitigation and communications with residents during the Aug. 10 meeting and asked staff to consider additional outreach. Several members suggested inserting timely tips in the city newsletter and promoting emergency-notification signups to reach more households.
Staff told the council that the city previously "did print out a copy of the emergency management plan and deliver it to every single door, literally every doorstep within the city," and offered to invite the county emergency manager to give a briefing so councilors better understand the plan and how the city and county coordinate response activities.
