Administration presented the personnel report and asked the board to approve professional leave and the personnel report as presented. Michael Cox (speaker 5) said the district is continuing hiring efforts, noting specific openings: "we will be open tomorrow" for school operations and active recruiting for a chemistry teacher at Terre Haute North, kindergarten teachers and bus drivers. A board member moved to approve the personnel report; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Cox said new-teacher orientation the prior Thursday included about 40 people, "a mixture of seasoned individuals" and new staff returning to the district. He also described letters of assurance sent to employees and flexible options for educational assistance and part-time roles to fill gaps in staffing.
