Bellflower to start Artesia corridor study; staff to release RFP within about 60 days

“Staff is recommending studying Artesia Boulevard, Lakewood Boulevard, and Alondra Boulevard,” Jim Delonge said, and explained staff will begin with Artesia from the west city boundary to Bellflower Boulevard because an older 2004 land‑use study gives consultants a baseline. He told the council the staff has drafted an RFP and with council direction will aim to release it “within the next 60 days or so.”
Delonge and council members also discussed expected timelines. Staff estimated about 12 months to complete the first corridor study once an RFP is awarded and recommended phasing subsequent corridor work incrementally rather than attempting a citywide study at once.
