Johnsburg board votes to authorize phase 2 of North Creek/Cedarwood water project

Nick Vandala said the project has a Water Infrastructure Improvement Act (WEA) grant that covers about 60% of eligible costs and that the maximum WEA award for the project was $3,000,000; he said the remaining local match is expected to be financed and that a portion of interest on that loan is currently subsidized.
After discussion about grant stacking, procurement, and user impacts, the board moved a resolution to authorize commencing phase 2 of the WEA project and called the roll; members voted unanimously in favor. The engineers noted the likely timing for design and the potential for staged contracts so higher‑priority items such as controls and emergency power could be accelerated.
