Township committee details Parker Avenue Complete Streets plan; no decision yet

Vic DeLuca, a member of the township committee, opened the third public meeting on the Parker Avenue proposal and described the process the committee will use to decide whether to move forward. "So far, our 2 meetings have been great in that regard," he said, and repeated that the township will consider resident input and professional recommendations before deciding. He told listeners the committee has provisionally included funding in the capital budget for the project and said bids could go out in the summer if the project is approved.
Township staff framed the project as both a bike-network investment and a traffic-calming measure. Township engineer Paul Kittner described the project as meeting the township and state's Complete Streets objectives and noted the township previously adopted a bicycle plan and a 2012 resolution directing bicycle policy. The committee said further review will occur at the public-works/engineering subcommittee on April 9 and at a township committee meeting on April 15; "no final decision has been made," DeLuca said.
