The Hallettsville Independent School District Board unanimously approved the appointment of Mandy Bucek and Lela Tyson as public information officers at its Aug. 3, 2026 special session.
Committee member Dennis Herring moved “to approve the appointment of public information officers Mandy Bucek and Lela Tyson,” and Committee member Jon Lamson seconded the motion. The board recorded the vote as 5-0 in favor, with President Brian Smith, Herring, Sharesce Sidney, Lamson and Trent Fojtik voting yes.
The meeting opened at 6:01 p.m. and included the administration of the Oath of Office to Trent Fojtik by Selena Hanzel. The appointments position Bucek and Tyson as the district’s designated points of contact for public information and communications moving into the 2026–27 school year.
No dissenting votes were recorded and the board took no additional action on communications policy at this session. Next steps for the newly appointed officers were not specified in the minutes.
