The commission discussed a recently listed historic property—referred to as the Marshall Williamson house—adjacent to the Mango lots and concluded the city should explore acquisition. Commissioner Calle flagged the listing and told colleagues the asking price appeared within reach. Commissioners proposed using the building as a museum, neighborhood meeting space or historic interpretation center while preserving the home's exterior.
Mayor and commissioners agreed on a motion to designate Commissioner Calle to lead discussions and pursue a purchase-and-sale agreement with the owner, assisted by the city attorney. The motion passed unanimously.
"I saw it came up for sale last week. I wanted to talk about it, see if you guys have any ideas. Is it something there's an appetite for?" Commissioner Calle said, urging quick action given pending offers. The commission directed staff and counsel to support negotiations and return any proposed agreement to the full commission for approval.
