During the supervisor's monthly report the supervisor summarized the town's revenue and budget allocations. He said, "So I added up the total taxes for the town of Johnsburg, real property taxes amongst the budgets, and there's 2,234,000 and change generated from taxes in the town." He explained that of that total roughly $348,000 goes to the general fund (about 15%), the highway fund receives about $1,060,000 (roughly 40%), the library fund about $96,000 (4%), with fire protection at 13% and EMS at 20%.
The supervisor emphasized that about 80% of property‑tax revenue supports highways, fire protection and EMS services, and noted that budgets also receive other revenue (sales tax, CHIPS funds) that offset some costs. The board moved and approved acceptance of the annual financial report; the supervisor offered to answer further questions as members continue detailed review.
The presentation was informational; no changes to tax rates were proposed at the meeting.
