Robert Kazarek of KLW updated the Johnsburg Town Board on the townwide reassessment process at the April 1 meeting. He said the firm has spent several days meeting informally with residents to review assessment records and answer property-specific questions. "Currently, we have approximately 160 meetings scheduled," Robert said, adding staff will continue meetings and produce neighborhood-level reports after data review.
Kazarek told the board most questions have focused on information not preserved in the assessor database — interior condition, quality of construction and nearby commercial influences — rather than a single systematic error. He said KLW removes anomalous sale prices from comparable‑sale analyses and will examine individual cases where a sale may have pushed a value upward. The firm plans to finish collecting resident-submitted data and circulate reports in mid-April.
Chair introduced the update and invited the consultant to prepare follow‑up materials for board members. The board did not take action at the meeting but asked KLW to provide neighborhood and building‑type breakdowns once the review is complete.
