High school leaders note arts, athletics and science research honors

High-school student-council co-presidents reported a busy month of performances, competitions and research milestones. They noted the winter-season athletics wrap-up and listed honors including 17 all-county athletes and district teams advancing in Nassau County competitions; they also highlighted the high-school orchestra and chorus opening the winter concert season on Nov. 12. The co-presidents thanked volunteers and noted that the drama production 'Alice in Wonderland' ran Nov. 20–22 with tickets available online and at the door.
The students emphasized science research accomplishments. They reported 33 Regeneron SDS submissions completed by 8 p.m. at the last board meeting cycle and noted that district participants earned awards and invitations to national contests; one junior will travel to San Diego on a fully funded trip. They also said student research awards earned over $2,000 for the Jericho Science Research Program. The co-presidents closed by previewing family-night events scheduled for Feb. 5.
"We're getting ready for this year's family night, which will be taking place on February 5," one co-president said, thanking families and staff for support.
