Jericho middle-school reps report winter sports, History Day theme and community service plans

8th-grade student-council representatives described winter athletics starting Nov. 3, upcoming Shrek Jr. performances (Dec. 4–5), History Day projects, and a student-led door-decorating gratitude effort paired with a food drive in partnership with Long Island Cares.
Brooke Grant and a fellow middle-school representative updated the board on extracurriculars and student programming. The middle-school winter sports season began on Nov. 3 with teams including winter track, swimming and basketball. The students also highlighted a recent choral concert and an active Yearbook retake session. "This Friday's nest focuses on gratitude," they said, and described next steps for family-focused events.
Students outlined curricular and extracurricular projects to engage peers. They said 7th and 8th graders have begun History Day with the theme "Revolution, Reaction, and Reform," and described ELA work that let students write rap poems and perform them in music videos. The student council will decorate classroom doors with leaves naming teachers and will partner with the PTA for a food drive with Long Island Cares beginning the week after Thanksgiving. The report closed with holiday well-wishes and an invitation to families to attend upcoming events.
