Supervisor says county changed meal‑site service without notifying Johnsburg officials

The Town of Johnsburg supervisor told the board at its April 15 meeting that Warren County altered the town's senior meal‑site arrangement without notifying town officials and that she has begun pressing county leaders for answers. "No 1 called me. I'm the supervisor," she said, adding that county staff sent an email on March 25 to an address that "doesn't exist," which she believes prevented notification.

The supervisor said the town will pursue a deeper review at the senior committee's next meeting and plans a visit to Lake Luzerne to observe its operation. She contrasted Lake Luzerne's meal site, which she said "serves on average about 120 people a day," with Johnsburg's local site, where attendance has "been anywhere between 2 and 6 people." The supervisor said she has met with the county administrator and the treasurer and will continue follow‑up.

Residents at the meeting urged the board not to cut services. One board member noted that home‑delivered meals (Meals on Wheels) are an "invaluable" service for seniors, and the supervisor said transportation and other access questions need investigation. The town has not adopted any formal change to its meal program during the meeting; the supervisor said the issue will be discussed further at the senior committee next Wednesday.
