The Carlin City Council voted to approve a reversion to acreage that consolidates multiple parcels at 8th and Chestnut Street to facilitate a proposed Nevada Rural Housing Authority senior housing project. City Manager Richard Braithwaite told the council the legal description was necessary for recordation, that Dowl Engineering and Elko County had spent roughly nine months resolving technical issues, and that an existing access easement for an adjacent truck wash would remain protected.
Braithwaite said Nevada Rural Housing Authority had secured approximately 80% of project funding and would seek the remaining 20% from state sources. Denise Taylor moved to approve the reversion to acreage; Brandon Keller seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The approval creates a single consolidated parcel with a new APN designation and allows NRHA to advance financing and design steps. Staff noted outstanding record corrections and utility easement protections had been addressed before the council vote.
