Superintendent outlines CTE redesign and exit from MTC; advisory council to publish recommendations Oct. 21

Superintendent Dr. Richards told the board the division has formally announced plans to leave the Mountain Technical Center partnership with Rockingham County effective summer 2027. He said staff convened a local advisory committee that includes business leaders, college and university partners, parents and educators; the council has met four times and will present recommended CTE design and partnerships at a public work session on Oct. 21 at Bluestone Elementary.
Richards said the district is pursuing a hybrid CTE model that uses partnerships around the city and valley instead of concentrating programs under one roof. The board was invited to a 5:00 p.m. reception and public presentation on Oct. 21 where committee members will speak about labor-market alignment and next steps.
