Rock City Regiment praised; drum majors describe competition wins and teamwork

Superintendent Richards and board members recognized the Rock City Regiment — the combined high-school band — for a string of competition results, including multiple first-place finishes and top-10 statewide placement. Richards thanked the directors Claire Leeper and Daniel Upton and invited student drum majors to speak about the experience.
Students described long competition days, shared pride in the program’s continuity after school splits, and credited directors for supporting the group. “My name's Annie Snow and I am one of the drum majors for the Rock City regiment. I go to Harrisonburg High School,” said Annie Snow, while fellow drum majors Jose Rocha Salva, Tylen Brutus and Josiah Nassinger also spoke about community, drive and student leadership. The board urged attendance at the upcoming Friday football game to see the band perform.
