The elections office reported recruiting at least eight students for a page program to help manage lines and same‑day registration at key polling locations.
"We'd had at least 8 students that had signed up for," Vink said, noting one student came from Rockingham County and that county students may participate with parental permission. He explained pages will help direct voters to the correct lines, assist with preparing application information and post posters, but they are restricted from handling voted ballots, poll pads or entering voting booths.
Vink said the office will train pages on those limits and may survey chiefs after Election Day to collect feedback on how the program worked in practice. The first day of page training is scheduled for Oct. 25, the same day early voting opens.
