Board considers streamlined officer-evaluation form to simplify Election Day reviews

Director Mark Vink told the board he recommends chiefs complete officer evaluations to collect useful performance data and identify training needs, but that the prior multi-sheet method proved cumbersome.
He presented a draft single-sheet spreadsheet listing every officer and a set of evaluation criteria, with a 0–4 numeric grading system rather than multiple separate sheets. "So it's a grading system, so a 0 to 4," Vink said, and he told members the aim is to have chiefs complete the evaluations on Election Day when possible, with an option to return them afterward if necessary.
Vink and members agreed the consolidated form should reduce administrative burden and help the office identify who might be ready for expanded responsibilities or who needs additional training. The director said staff will refine metrics and present the form during chief training later in the month.
