Town details parking permit changes and enforcement if Parker lane plan proceeds

Town officials used the June 24 session to explain how parking enforcement and permits would be managed if Parker Avenue treatments proceed.
Vic DeLuca said the township will maintain residential permiting via license-plate registration rather than physical permits: "Residential parking in this regard is free... We no longer issue a permit. It's based on license plates." The clerk maintains the passholder database and the police enforce the regulations; DeLuca added the township plans to transition to license-plate readers to streamline enforcement.
DeLuca also addressed deliveries, contractors and emergency services: single-package deliveries (UPS, FedEx, Amazon, postal) are permitted to stop for drop-off, and emergency vehicles may use bike lanes for short-term parking when necessary. Construction vehicles and landscapers will be encouraged to use driveways or adjacent streets, and special temporary parking in lanes may be authorized by the Maplewood Police Department for events and emergencies with public notice.
