Town says Columbia High School drop-off changes are being finalized alongside Parker Avenue plan

Town officials told residents on June 24 that they have been developing a Columbia High School (CHS) drop-off plan to work with the broader Parker Avenue project.
Vic DeLuca said the proposed CHS plan would convert Kensington and North Terrace to one-way approaches off Parker, make Academy one-way toward Parker, and prohibit cars from stopping on Parker for drop-off. The township said those flows are intended to reduce turning conflicts and queuing on Parker during school arrivals and dismissals; the committee said it has already discussed preliminary plans with the principal and superintendent and will further the outreach to parent councils before September.
Residents repeatedly requested a dedicated community meeting on the CHS plan; officials responded that they will meet with CHS administrators and parent groups for fine-tuning and that they expect to have a plan ready for September regardless of the Parker lane decision.
Town engineers also said that certain traffic-calming features (flexible delineators, daylighting near intersections, RRFBs and improved crosswalks) would be part of the corridor improvements near the school.
