Director estimates $11,000 for early-voting officers and reports September registration uptick

"At my estimate right now is about $11,000 is what we'll likely spend for this election, for early voting," Vink said, noting that the figure covers officers of election and excludes other incomplete expense lines. He also told the board that "Just from the month of September, we processed 549 voter registrations" and that his office mailed about 849 absentee ballots in mid-September.
Vink explained how returned mail is handled: undeliverable absentee ballots typically trigger a confirmation mailing and may lead to inactive status if no update is made. He emphasized ballots cannot be forwarded by the Postal Service and noted a temporary-address form (Form 7031c) exists for voters who need mail sent elsewhere.
Those figures are interim: Vink said staffing costs and some other expenses are still being finalized and that in-person vote counts continued to change as early voting progressed.
