Julie Abba, a civil engineer on the charrette team, presented the team's quick parking audit and management recommendations. "Counted about 204 existing spaces in the Lincoln Street corridor. Of those, 120 are on the Street, 84 are the train lot," she said, and the team proposed a tiered parking-management plan: a free two-hour maximum for customer parking, permits for employees or residents, and parts of the train lot reserved for long-term or overnight parking.
Abba described the parking measures as a future, longer-term option that could be implemented if the city decides it is needed, and noted other options such as better utilization of existing spots or using portions of school lots for station parking. "It may just be that better utilization of the spots that are there could solve the parking problem," she said, describing permit and paid-parking mixes as possible next steps.
