Chapel Elementary renovation nears completion and is coming in under budget, officials say

Talbot County facilities staff reported that Chapel Elementary’s renovation and addition project has reached substantial completion and is expected to close out under budget. "So there is a balance that we're gonna get some of that back... we're gonna come in under budget," Mr. Schafer said, summarizing the contract status and showing photos of updated spaces.
Mr. Schafer said the original contract amount was listed at $37,900,000 and that, to date, there have been no approved change orders; he thanked project staff and the community and noted the PTO and grandparents club each contributed $50,000 for the playground. He also said ribbon-cutting and tours will be scheduled when final closeout steps are complete.
