"Ripley County is one of the few counties that does not have a dedicated detective to this county," the official said, adding that the state police task force is constrained and cannot handle all cases locally. "There was about 66 it's in my letter to you guys. 66 NCMEC hits."
Council members responded with procedural and fiscal cautions, noting they are monitoring state-level changes that could affect county revenue and advising staff to watch LIT restructuring before committing to a long-term, funded position. The official said if the LIT outlook is stable the office would return with a formal request in a future budget cycle.
