The board approved a formal partnership to expand the district's construction career-and-technical education pathway in collaboration with Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology (OSU IT). Mr. James presented the plan, saying the district already works with OSU IT faculty "to help align the curriculum" and that students could receive prior-learning credit: "OSU IT will, they will give them prior learning credit." Trustees asked about current enrollment (about 130 students), transferability of credit, the addition of lab space and industry connections.
Trustees discussed how the pathway could prepare students for immediate entry to the workforce or continued study and asked staff to consider celebrating students with career signing events. The board moved and approved the partnership on a roll call; the board also recognized OSU IT representatives and introduced Dr. Richie Roberts during the meeting.
