Superintendent Cotton marks final meeting as board thanks him; incoming Dr. Brubaker to be sworn in Aug. 12

Superintendent Dr. Cotton used his report to highlight recent community outreach and operations: the division’s "Get on the Bus" event drew more than 3,000 attendees and offered services including physicals, immunizations and backpacks; staff also hosted summer-school graduations.
"We were happy to welcome over 3,000 attendees and feature every school, several CPS departments, and 43 community organizations," Dr. Cotton said. He also reminded parents to update their child’s information in ParentVUE as the division prepares for the upcoming school year.
Board member Malia Huddle reported that Delegate Cliff Hayes secured two $5,000 grants for Hugo Owens Middle School and Carver Intermediate; she thanked the delegate for the support. Chair Kim Scott noted that the meeting was Dr. Cotton’s final school-board meeting and thanked him for his service; she also announced Dr. Doug Brubaker will be sworn in as superintendent on Aug. 12 and will hold meet-and-greet sessions at the district’s seven high schools.
The board offered thanks for Dr. Cotton’s service and said the division will continue transition activities with incoming leadership.
