Board hears annual policy review; proposes new policy protecting parental participation

Graham summarized proposed edits to Policy 4-41 to update walk distances for bus stops by school level and improve routing efficiencies; Policy 4-49 to remove procedural or administrative language; and Policy 9-21 to remove redundant definitions and outdated notification practices. She also introduced a proposed new Policy 5-23, which language the presentation described as protecting parents’ rights to participate in their child’s education except where limited by court order or existing board regulation.
Graham told the board that complete versions of all draft revisions and the accompanying regulations are available in BoardDocs for review; she noted that regulations do not require formal board action but were published for information. Board members did not ask questions during the presentation.
