The Maquoketa City Council approved Resolution No. 2026-97 on July 27, awarding a bid to Sheets Design Build LLC in the amount of $632,305.87 for the Maquoketa Spray Pad Project; the motion carried 5-0.
City Manager Joshua Boldt told the council there were three responsive bidders for the rebid of the splashpad project and that "the splashpad is still on schedule to be open for summer 2027." Scott Warren added that "the project is well within budget, current projections show a surplus of over $700,000." Those figures were presented as current projections; the council recorded the award and did not amend the funding at the meeting.
The award covers construction work; staff indicated the project remains on the city's schedule for completion in time for the summer 2027 season. The council's unanimous vote authorizes staff to proceed with the contract award and next steps under the terms presented at the meeting.
