Police report shows modest uptick in calls and arrests

At the March meeting the city's police department reported a month-over-month increase in activity and staffing updates.
The police department representative said, "We've had a increase in calls from last month from 3 74 to 4 0 7, which spring break" and reported a total of five arrests for the month, one more than the prior month, including a warrant arrest for driving while intoxicated. The representative also said traffic stops increased compared with the previous month and that the department has four applicants for an open position and interviewed one candidate.
Council did not take further action on the report but noted seasonal patterns (spring break and summer) could increase call volumes and directed staff to continue recruitment and monitoring.
