Council accepts Bertram Police Department's 2025 traffic-stops report; 2,009 stops recorded

The City Council of Bertram voted to accept the Bertram Police Department's annual traffic-stops report for 2025, which the department said documented 2,009 total stops between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2025. The lieutenant presenting the report said the data include breakdowns by road type and by demographic categories and that the report will be sent to the state and used for Uniform Crime Reporting purposes.

"We had 2,009 total stops for the that's from 01/01/2025 until 12/31/2025," the lieutenant said, describing city-street, highway and county-road counts and the demographic summaries included in the packet. He told the council the packet is lengthy and will be posted to the city website and the department's Facebook page.

Councilors asked procedural questions about posting and submission. The lieutenant said the report will go to the state of Texas and that state authorities will aggregate the department's submission with others for UCR statistics; he also referenced the Sandra Bland Act as a driver of current reporting expectations. After discussion, a council member moved and a second was recorded; the chair called the question and the motion to accept the report carried.

The council did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript; the motion was reported as passed. The department noted the packet includes additional breakdowns (city streets: 172 stops; US highways: 4; state highways: 1,800; county roads: 31) and more granular demographic tables for the council and public to review online.
