Commissioner Andy Dance summarized the board's concern: "One of the big ticket things that you would be tasked with is, how do we make that a sustainable beach management plan that has funding backed up to it?" Commissioners also noted the county will revisit its coastal management plan and that staff recently added a coastal engineer to lead updates. The board said the successful administrator must be able to navigate grant applications and coordinate with state and federal partners while ensuring public transparency on costs and scheduling.
