Summary

Chris, the district finance speaker, summarized the purpose of the budget and highlighted proposed adjustments for 2027: reductions to appropriations to reflect enrollment and revenue assumptions and a plan to advertise and adopt the budget on an expedited schedule.
"We reduced appropriations in the education fund by just over $1,042,000," Chris said, and noted the operations fund appropriations were reduced by about $2,000,000, partly to reflect shifting some expenditures to bonds. He told the board the district would advertise the budget on Aug. 24 and planned for adoption on Sept. 14 provided no substantive concerns arose during the public-advertising period.
Chris also pointed out an expected modest revenue decline (about $100,000) in the education fund tied to declining enrollment and said staff would continue monitoring headcount. Board members asked logistical questions about tax-rate advertising and timing; staff said they would circulate details and revised numbers if adjustments become necessary before adoption.
