Council reviews municipal website / permitting vendor and migration costs
Summary
Staff recommended evaluating a muni-bid/website host (Munibit/Nunivit) that offers online permitting and resident-friendly features; the vendor costs about $1,100/year versus current $500, and staff said migration would require time and staff onboarding.

Staff displayed examples of other municipalities’ websites and recommended the council consider a new municipal website and online-permitting host that can enforce required fields and provide onboarding support.
The staff member said the vendor’s annual price is roughly $1,100 compared with the current $500 annual hosting cost but argued the additional features—online permitting, form validation and 24/7 live chat—would improve resident access and reduce staff time spent walking residents through forms. Staff cautioned the move would not be immediate because staff must set up permit templates and train on the new system; they recommended planning migration to align with the current vendor contract expiration. “It is really nice, the website is… a little bit more fluid,” the staff member said of the example site shown to the council.
