The Magnolia ISD Board of Trustees approved a multi-item consent agenda on July 13 that bundled routine and substantive items into a single motion.
The consent package included an appointment and retention of law firm Thompson & Horton, LLP to provide comprehensive general counsel services to the district and the specific designation of attorney Morgan Beam as Lead General Counsel. The board also approved a Hazardous Traffic Conditions Resolution under Education Code 42.115(d) to identify walk-to-school areas the district considers hazardous for purposes of seeking supplemental TEA transportation funding. The resolution lists numerous streets and neighborhoods by attendance zone.
In the same consent motion trustees approved a proposed increase in school lunch prices for 2026–27 — elementary lunches to $2.75 and secondary lunches to $3.00 (a $0.30 increase) — and authorized procurement of library materials. The consent agenda motion was moved by David McCarty, seconded by Dacia Owens, and carried 4–0.
