Police leadership described the contract as replacing an existing vendor and saving roughly $38,000 annually. "part of this process also brings in the LPR, data," the chief explained when describing the system's inputs, and added that the data is kept confidential as part of operational controls.
Council members asked about ownership of the software and data handling; staff said the prior system had been owned by a different vendor (Fusus/Axon) and that the new contract is with Flock. After discussion the motion passed 8–0.
