Senior Planner David Jellen presented proposed amendments to Title 19 to update definitions and clarify where regulations for auto repair and car wash uses are located in the code, explaining that some rules previously listed only under definitions would be relocated to Chapter 19.05 to improve clarity. "The purpose of the proposed code amendment was to update definitions and clarify regulations related to auto repair shops and car washes," he said.
Commissioner NH Rather asked about whether sound was regulated for car washes; Planning Director Sarah Carroll responded that the code does not have a specific sound standard for car washes but that separation requirements and other standards address compatibility. Commissioner Scott A. Hill confirmed a 5,000-foot distance requirement for some car wash siting was in the materials. The commission voted 6–0 to forward a recommendation for approval to City Council.
