City administrator reports retirements, new fire chief start date and Orchard Ridge open house

City Administrator Miss Bartle reported two upcoming retirements: the current fire chief will retire effective Aug. 17 after 25 years of service and Morgan Marler will begin a phased retirement with a last date of Aug. 28. Miss Bartle said Matt Hein will start as the new fire chief on Aug. 18 and that the council will formally recognize the retirements at the next meeting.
Bartle also provided project updates: the pickleball courts project was close to fully funded but had an approximately $10,000 shortfall staff were seeking to fill through community foundation or rec commission support; an Orchard Ridge development grand opening was scheduled for Friday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. at 815 Orchard Grove and council was encouraged to attend.
