"Because state code was recently amended, it comes straight to you guys because you're the land use authority," a staff member said during the review.
Council members asked whether the proposed height was driven solely by door clearance or by the pitched roof and living space. The applicant said the RV door requires higher clearance and described the upper area as "a casita just for family use." After discussing prior approvals (staff noted similar accessory structures approved at comparable heights), a council member moved to approve the permit; the motion was seconded and carried on a council vote.
