Board welcomes new child‑nutrition director and assistant principal

At the Aug. 5 Lafourche Parish School Board meeting the board introduced two new administrators: Leah Savoy, the district's newly appointed director of child nutrition, and Vernika Cameron, the new assistant principal at St. Charles Elementary.
"Again, I'm Leah Savoy. I'm a dietitian. I come from the state department," Savoy said, telling trustees she looked forward to working with principals and staff and inviting them to visit cafeterias to review meal service. She encouraged board members to provide input and to observe operations.
Vernika Cameron thanked the board for the opportunity to serve and described her first weeks getting "my feet wet" in the administrative role at St. Charles Elementary. The board welcomed both appointments as part of routine personnel actions and did not take separate votes at the meeting beyond recognition and introduction.
