County awards $57,381 boiler-replacement contract for KI Sawyer building

Staff said the building dates to 1958 with a 1991 addition and explained the older boilers failed for multiple reasons including burner failures and controls problems; four bids were received and the low bid was recommended. "Prime Contracting for $57,381, Johnson Controls for $59,995, JF Ahern for 76,390, and Valley Mechanical for $64,927," staff reported while recommending award to Prime Contracting. Commissioners authorized the contract and staff said the expenditure will be paid from airport reserves in the interim, with intent to replenish those reserves from earmarked funds later.
