Mayor Joe Carr opened the event, praising the pair's work and noting the ceremony marked a county-supported expansion. Judge Don Ash and family members, community partners and county staff were present for remarks and the sign unveiling outside.
Judge Turner, who now serves as the recovery court judge, placed the program in a statewide context, saying the initiative '250 people's comeback-story' framing applies here' and stressing the courts' role in recovery. Christian Nack, Schneider's son, described the naming as deeply meaningful and said, "Naming the Recovery Court Building in honor of judge Ash and my mom, Mary Schneider, has profound meaning." Speakers emphasized the program's human impact, the program's evolution from small beginnings and the community's role in sustaining it. Mayor Carr closed by inviting the crowd to the unveiling of the building sign and thanked the many staff, judges and volunteers who helped bring the renovation and dedication to completion.
The ceremony included recognition of county staff and contractors who worked on the project and concluded with an outdoor sign unveiling for the newly named Recovery Court Building.
