At its June 22, 2026 meeting, the Cheryl City Commission approved transfers from contingency in the general and sewer funds to cover misstatements in debt-redemption schedules and to make scheduled band payments.
Commissioner (S4) told the panel that the budget showed inconsistent debt numbers — for example, a park-support rehab project was listed with a principal of $60,000 and interest of $12,002.40 on one page, but the earlier schedule showed principal of $47,400 and interest of $8,888. "I am requesting for the general's fund to move monies from contingency to cover that shortfall for the band payment for that," the commissioner said. The same kind of correction was requested for an EFC 2022 project with an interest error of $11,724.
The motion to transfer funds was seconded by Commissioner (S3) and carried on a roll-call of 'ayes.' The commission's action moves contingency balances to correct the debt-service lines and to ensure band payments and bond interest are covered in the current fiscal year. The transfers were recorded as approved in the meeting minutes.
The discussion focused on correcting bookkeeping errors rather than creating new spending priorities; commissioners did not propose additional program funding during the vote. Staff was asked to ensure future budget schedules align across pages and to provide corrected worksheets for the public record.
