Nottoway supervisors adopt $59.3 million fiscal 2026 budget after 4–1 vote

The Nottoway County Board of Supervisors adopted a $59,286,424 budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, after a roll-call vote that concluded 4–1 in favor. The motion to adopt — moved by a board member and seconded for discussion — specified the appropriation is contingent on receipt of outstanding state and federal funding and carrying over obligated funds from FY2025.

Board discussion before the vote focused on several pressure points: a recent $6 million grant for school HVAC and roof work; a $2.1 million required local match that school officials said supports about $7 million in programs; and a large EMS and fire funding request that some supervisors described as unexpectedly high.
