CSEA labor representative requests new negotiations session; mediation stalled

Stephanie Inkster, the CSEA labor relations specialist for the town of Seneca Falls, told the board bargaining has been ongoing for almost a year and characterized the process as "extremely frustrating" because parties have been unable to reach agreement on remaining issues. She traced the timeline on the record, saying, "April 9 was our 1st session, and our very last session 04/09/2025. And our very last session was, in mediation on December 9," and she asked the board to schedule another negotiation session and provide a board member to attend so the parties can finish an agreement.
The board discussed whether mediation is required; Inkster said the parties can proceed directly to negotiation without the mediator and offered to send available dates. The meeting produced no new agreement; Inkster said she would follow up with scheduling information and asked that counsel Crane be available for the next session if possible.
