"Altogether, 226 students participated, and about a 169 actually showed up consistently," Doctor McDonald said about the Read-to-Succeed camp, and he noted 118 high-school students attended summer programs to recover or advance coursework. He described specialized offerings — a pre-K camp of 22 students, camps for multilingual learners (60 elementary and 18 middle school students at two sites), and a state grant-funded electric-vehicle camp.
Board members asked about evaluation data; Doctor McDonald said the MAP screener and end-of-course requirements will allow staff to compare year-to-year gains and report results after fall testing.
