Council approves five-year extension with Motorola for body and in-car cameras

Public Safety Director Carr presented a proposed extension of the city's existing Motorola Solutions agreement for body-worn and in-car camera systems. He told council that Motorola offered a 20% discount if the city extends the contract through 05/19/2033, a reduction Carr estimated would save the city "over $62,000." The extension would move the contract term from 05/19/2028–05/19/2033 and include periodic equipment refresh (every three years for the latest models).
Councilmembers asked about device counts and ongoing budgeting; staff said the city currently uses about 31 devices, can add cameras at additional per-unit cost, and will budget the extension on an annual basis with the vendor invoiced yearly. Council voted 5-0 to approve the resolution authorizing the extension.
